When you book a reservation through Reserve, we place a temporary hold on your payment method to secure your table. This hold is only converted to a charge under the specific circumstances described below.
To secure your spot, we place a temporary authorization hold on your payment method. The hold amount is set by each restaurant—a per-guest no-show fee multiplied by your party size—and is shown to you before you confirm your booking. This is an authorization only; it does not result in an actual charge unless one of the conditions below is met. When you attend your reservation, the hold is released in full.
You can cancel any time before your reservation's scheduled time. When you cancel, your reservation is valued at its current market price—the dynamically-set price for that table at the moment you cancel—which may be higher than, equal to, or lower than what you originally paid:
Money you originally paid by card is returned to your card first; any remaining refund, and any credit for a price increase, goes to your Reserve wallet. You'll always see the exact settlement amount before you confirm the cancellation.
When you cancel a reservation you paid for by card, a flat 3% of the amount charged to your card is deducted from your settlement to cover non-recoverable payment processing fees. This 3% is based only on what you paid by card—any portion you paid from your wallet balance, and cash-back reservations, are not subject to it. The exact amount is shown before you confirm your cancellation.
If you don't cancel before your reservation and then fail to attend, it's treated as a no-show and the full deposit is charged.
Some situations result in a partial charge instead of the full deposit:
When both apply, the amount charged reflects the combination of how late you arrive and how many guests are missing.
If you believe a no-show fee was charged in error, you can dispute it within 14 days of the charge by contacting us at support@reserve.ag or through the app. We'll review your dispute and, if we determine the fee was not appropriately charged, refund it in full or in part. See Section 6 of our Terms of Service for details.
For cash-back reservations (off-peak times where you earn money for dining), the deposit hold works the same way as any other reservation: released when you attend, and charged if you don't show up. Your cash-back reward is credited to your Reserve wallet shortly after your reservation, once the restaurant reports its outcome.
If you cancel a cash-back reservation before it takes place, the pending cash-back reward is forfeited. As with any cancellation, the reservation is then valued at its current market price: if the cash-back offer has improved since you booked, the difference is credited to your wallet; if it has dropped, the difference is collected from your deposit hold.
Refunds, price-increase credits, and cash-back rewards are held in your Reserve wallet, which you can apply toward future reservations or withdraw to an eligible bank account. See Section 6.4 of our Terms of Service for full wallet terms.
